Rewards
Merits
Staff at Trinity Academy take great pleasure in recognising the outstanding achievement of students, whether this be in or out of the classroom.
They do this by stamping the student planner with their merit stamp. Staff can award up to 3 merits to a single student in a lesson for anything they feel is outstanding.
Some reasons for awarding merits are below:
Students also earn two automatic merits a week for 100% attendance and punctuality. This is not a cumulative total, so every student has a fresh start each week.
There are also opportunities throughout the year to gain additional merits in special activities and competitions.
Over the course of the year students accumulate as many merits as they can and are given the opportunity to 'cash in' these merits for a reward at our Rewards Shop. Students can also lose their merits through incidents of negative behaviour.
All merits are counted and recorded by the tutor on a weekly basis. Merits are deducated from this total for any negative behaviour:
- Poor behaviour / attitude
- Poor punctuality
- Poor organisation
Students have the amazing opportunity to ‘cash in’ their earned merits at the Rewards Shop once per term. You can choose to cash them in termly or ‘save up’ for a bigger reward later in the year.
Rewards Events and Trips
During each term there will be a rewards event or trip which will be open to the students with the highest amount of merits in each year group, this will be led by your Head of Year. Students are also celebrated in rewards assemblies, and through social media platforms weekly.
WOW Boards
At Trinity Academy we seek to encourage our students to produce outstanding work. To reinforce this, we showcase the best work in each subject in each year group on our WOW boards.
It is a fantastic achievement to have work displayed on these boards and we believe that students who achieve this deserve further recognition. Therefore, any student who has work displayed on the WOW boards receives 10 merits. The Principal judges and selects the best piece of work in each year group and the selected student receives a £10 Amazon Voucher.
We hope that students feel valued at Trinity and that together we can create a 'culture of success'.
