A-Level Results 2022

Sixth Form students maintain excellent results, despite the return of examinations.

Sixth form students at Trinity Academy are celebrating another year of excellent results, showing their determination, courage and fortitude overcoming multiple lockdowns, periods of illness, disruption to teaching and a return to summer examinations. Overall grades have remained high, mirroring those achieved last year and continuing the trend of improvement over time. The average grade at A level is a B, and in vocational qualifications a distinction.

Alexander Williamson achieved an impressive 2 A* grades in Chemistry and Maths, alongside A grades in Physics and Further Maths.  Alex, reflecting on his grades said, “the work is definitely hard, but if you persevere, it pays off. Although it seems like it goes on forever, this day comes.” Alex will be reading Aerospace Engineering at the University of Manchester next year.

Hannah Croucher similarly received excellent A levels across four subjects achieving an A* in Mathematics, A grades in Further Mathematics and Physics, and a B in Chemistry. Al Bush, Head of mathematics said “I’m extremely proud of Hannah. She has wanted to study at the University of Manchester for years. She is an exceptional mathematician.

Leo Cousins, Head Boy, has demonstrated a remarkable ability to juggle multiple commitments over his time at Sixth Form, taking a leading role in the Blood Brothers production last year alongside his prefect duties. Leo achieved A grades in English, Geography and Theatre Studies. His mother, Philippa Cousins, who serves the school as a governor, was full of praise saying that, “the school knows every individual child and is invested in them. Leo has had lots of opportunities over the years including additional tutoring. He has made the most of them and this has led to his success today”.

The Sixth Form at Trinity Academy offers many excellent vocational courses, including Health and Social Care course, which is a major sector, in the Doncaster area. Health and Social Care has performed particularly well this year and it is great to see many students progressing onto degree level courses. Amongst these are Kate Wheatley who achieved an outstanding double starred Distinction in Health and Social Care and Anais Robinson who achieved a starred Distinction in Health and Social Care, a Distinction in Child Development and a B grade in English Lang & Lit. Rachel Pashley, Head of Health and Social Care was full of praise for Kate, describing her as an outstanding student who has overcome numerous obstacles and never given up. Kate will go on to study Adult Nursing at Sheffield Hallam.

Anais Robinson who achieved a starred distinction in Health and Social Care, a distinction in Child Development and a B grade in English Lang & Lit will go on to take Midwifery at the University of Lincoln. At one point she thought this wouldn’t be possible but through sheer determination she has earned her place. Anais has achieved the highest progress in the year group.

Director of Sixth Form, Paul Flint said, “It’s great once again to see our students’ effort being recognised in formal exams. This has been a remarkable year group and for their achievement to mirror that of last year’s cohort, speaks volumes about the high standards here at Trinity Sixth Form. Our students have worked incredibly hard and it’s great to see so many progressing to their first-choice university in such challenging circumstances. I am immensely proud of each one of them and it has been a pleasure to work with them.

Head of School, Victoria Gibson added, “It has been a very successful year for post-16 students with a 100 per cent pass rate and 57 per cent A to B grades. All our pupils have made fantastic progress in very difficult circumstances over their two-year course of study, and their results are very well deserved. Staff have worked hard to support their students and this, combined with the determination of the students themselves, has given our sixth formers these amazing results.”
